ASU students, did you get your Summer U-Pass yet? You do know that the U-Pass allows ASU students and employees to get a super sweet deal on riding the bus and light rail, right? We all know that ASU students and employees rock the light rail, a LOT. In fact, we know the huge light rail ridership numbers go down during the summer and winter breaks when students are gone. For those students that stick around in the heat, a Summer U-Pass is available for $25 beginning May 17. Certain restrictions do apply so check with ASU for any questions you might have about buying or using a U Pass.
The cost of your U-Pass makes me kind of jealous. Heck, the deal is pretty sweet. Here’s how the pricing worked for this last year:
Students
Student U-Passes for 2009-2010 cost $40 per semester or $80 for the full academic year.
$40 Fall Semester: Valid through Jan. 29, 2010
$40 Spring Semester: Valid Jan. 19 – May 15, 2010
$80 Academic Year: Valid through May 15, 2010
$25 Summer 2010: Valid through Aug. 15, 2010
ASU currently makes the U-Pass program available to all students, taking advantage of it is up to them…
Remember, if using a U-Pass, students must validate every trip before boarding the light rail. The fare is validated by simply touching the back of your U-Pass to the orange card reader (“target”) located on the transit vending machine kiosk at each boarding station. No type of printed confirmation or ticket is issued. Seriously, it’s not hard to tap a card. Yes, I just made that up and it rhymes! 🙂 Light Rail fare enforcement is a big deal and they have been checking more people lately for fares. Don’t get busted for making a stupid mistake.
Around here we say, “Your Life Is On The Line”, so you might as well play by the rules…
