**Updated info for thie 2012 years Great AZ Beer Fest in Tempe**
Ok, so I hope you made it out to the “new and improved” Market on Mill which is now billed as the Thursday Night Market. ( See their Facebook page for info.) The Market is happening Thursdays from 4:30pm – 8pm and has a bunch of cool stuff. ( Just take the light rail to the Mill Ave station and head south to 7th St. )
Speaking of cool stuff, this weekend has plenty of activities planned for light rail riders, so pay attention…
Friday: The world (in)famous “EVFN” is back and rockin’ the Rail Life at Dave’s Electric Brewpub in Tempe. Dave’s is a great spot and is located right off of the light rail at the Sun Devil Station. They have been known to throw some pretty fun parties so, come join us tonight from 6pm-8pm. ( or later!) There will even be a special karaoke performance by our friend cwaterhouse tonight. Don’t miss it because well, Calie rocks, ya’ know!
Saturday: The Downtown Tempe Urban Garden, which will provide local, fresh produce to the community, debuts this Saturday at 9 a.m. It’s located at Forest and Fifth Street, just east of Tempe City Hall. This cool project is Tempe’s first urban garden and is creating a new use for a vacant lot by providing a sustainable food source for local Valley chefs and the community at large. There has been a lot of talk about urban gardens in the past – I think it is cool to see Tempe making some real progress with urban, walk able communities here. The Tempe Urban Garden is easily accessed via light rail and is located just south of the Veterans Way/College Ave light rail station. ( also known as Sun Devil Station, just east of Mill Ave )
Sunday: Don’t miss the party at the Phoenix Public Market! The market is having a bunch of cool people come out to celebrate Natalie’s “going away” party. The market will have a bunch of great food and entertainment with downtown Phoenix favorites such as PastaBar, The Breadfruit, and the Market’s own Chef Elizabeth using valley producers Maya’s Farm, Seacat Gardens, Double Check Ranch, and The Meat Shop. Arizona winemakers including Dos Cabezas, Pillsbury Wines, and Arizona Stronghold will be on hand sampling along to the live music. The Downtown Phoenix Public Market is located at 14 E Pierce Street which is just south of the Roosevelt light rail station and just north of the light rail stations at Central and Van Buren or 1st Ave and Van Buren. This weekends festivities will be held from 5pm – 8pm. Come check it out and rock the Rail Life!
You’re awesome Nick & yes, the Thursday Night Market definitely looks like a great way to support the local economy. Great post, as always.

Thanks Calie! Maybe we should take kids down there next week. 🙂
I think that’s a great idea! My kiddos love riding the light rail & are big proponents of supporting local venues. After our recent venture to Schenpf Farm for some pick-your-own-veggies – they’ll love the Thursday Night Market for sure 🙂

One of the challenges with social media is in determining the accuracy of the messages you are reading. When I went to confirm the actual attendance of the infamous Calie Waterhouse at #evfn, she reported she was NOT attending! I think we all need to rally to get her there or @raillife is going to look like a rookie reporter. I don’t want my next tweet to include #railfail. 😉

Sorry Jack for the misinformation. Perhaps you & Nick should partner up for a karaoke duet instead 🙂
