Wow, it’s gonna be another really busy weekend for light rail fun! Beginning Friday, the best way to get your groove on will be to hop on the light rail and check out some of the many cool things to do along the line.
Check out the 41st annual Tempe Fall Festival known around here as the Tempe Festival of the Arts. Check out live entertainment, street performers, vendors, sponsor exhibits and entertainment booths on Mill Avenue right at the 3rd/Mill light rail station.
While in Tempe, join us again for this week’s “EVFN” at Lunchbox Collective featuring food, fun, cocktails and a viewing of the “Apple Pie” collection from our friend Joel at Haller Design. Joel will be featuring his retro sports graphics made for apparel and inspired by vintage America. Just take the light rail to the Veterans Way / College Ave Station which is the next stop East of Mill Avenue. From there, just go South to 502 S College which is just above the very cool, Dave’s Electric Brewpub!
Of course, this Friday is also the First Friday of the month which means thousands will be descending upon the Central/Roosevelt area arts district for a great night of arts and entertainment. The First Friday crowds have really embraced light rail. In fact, METRO had its single highest ridership day on Friday, Oct. 2 with over 50,000 riders for the day! You can always find cool stuff going on downtown on Fridays!
Saturday is another day to take advantage of the Downtown Phoenix Public Market which always has good stuff for everyone and is also another day for the Tempe Arts Festival. If you have already done those two things, get ready for the APS Fiesta of Light Parade which will be accessible from the Central and Camelback light rail station.
Saturday also has the Suns playing the Kings at 7 p.m. Don’t forget that your Sun’s ticket can be used as your light rail pass!
Ok… I know I am missing a bunch of other cool stuff happening around our town this weekend, but this should give you a start. See ya’ around!
