GAIN nights in Arizona are pretty cool. If you are not familiar with the term, it stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods and is an opportunity for communities to come together to fight crime and create awareness for safer places to live. The past couple of years, my wife and I have enjoyed our neighborhood GAIN night with our kids.
Recently, I noticed a couple of areas that I like along the light rail line taking part in this annual event, so I thought I’d pass along the info. If your neighborhood has a GAIN night, you really should check it out.
The Hudson Manor Neighborhood in Tempe is a really cool neighborhood along the light rail line. This “small” community will be having a good time at Hudson Manor Park on October 24th to celebrate GAIN night. Their web site mentions that they will be meeting at Hudson Manor park.
“This is a great opportunity to visit with your fellow neighbors, meet our local area Tempe Beat 15 officers, celebrate the beauty of our new park, and generally have a good time.”
While the Tempe GAIN day is on the 24th, it looks like Phoenix celebrates on October 17th.
From our friends at the Midtown Museum District Neighborhood Association we learn that a really big event is planned. If you know my friends at MMDNA, you know they do things right.
MMDNA will be meeting from 9:30am to 12:30pm on the 17th for a BIG party. Neighborhood businesses will participate and they will have food, candy, balloons, drawings for prizes, etc. They will be meeting near Central and Thomas.
These are just two examples of more “life along the light rail line” that I find interesting. Without a doubt, I have enjoyed getting to know people in these areas.
As you hear of other cool things happening, please let me know.
