Metro light rail ridership numbers – July 2012

August 6, 2012 by Nick Bastian Leave a Comment

The July 2012 METRO light rail ridership numbers are out and they show that high temperatures and low student numbers are not a great combination for METRO. At 982,776 boardings, we see the lowest monthly numbers of the year while ASU is on summer break.

July 2012 ridership numbers look like this:

Total Boardings for July: 982,776 vs 995,109 in June:

Avg. Weekday Boardings: 34,168 vs 36,515 in June:

Avg Saturday Boardings: 27,935 vs 29,016 in June:

Avg Sunday / Holiday Boardings: 25,585 vs 20,804 in June:

The light rail ridership numbers for July of 2011 were 940,364 which means this month was 4.5% higher than last year. Not bad.

August will still be HOT around here but the ASU students will be back which should take light rail ridership back over the 1 million boardings that have become so common. Stay tuned.
