ASU football is back! Game day is THIS THURSDAY and the Devils are hosting NAU at Sun Devil Stadium. This is the first year under coach Todd Graham, and a lot of excitement has been building as a new coach, new team and a new football attitude takes the field.
Tons to do!
Many great options are available for Sun Devil fans before the game this Thursday. We’re thinking the “indoor” options is the best bet for an August game in Tempe. Our normal RailGating parties will return once the temperatures drop a bit. Enjoy some of the usual places like Devil’s Advocate, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Tavern on Mill, The Mad Hatter and more. Two BIG ASU celebrations that we will be checking out are The Tempe Tailgate and the Kickoff Party at Monti’s La Casa Vieja.
The Tempe Tailgate Party at ASU:
The City of Tempe and ASU invite all of us to have some fun in the air-conditioned comfort of Old Main on campus. ( just south of University and east of College Ave ) Join the Tempe Tailgate at ASU and enjoy a BBQ dinner, see Sparky, and meet new friends. Tickets ( including dinner ) are just $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.
Monti’s Kickoff Party:
Watch the game on a 120" TV while enjoying some great food and drink specials. There will be drawings and giveaways with a grand prize of 2 D’Back’s dugout box seats. Enjoy Prime Rib nachos, big ol’ burgers, $1 Silver bullets, $2 Devil’s Ale along with specials on margaritas, daiquiris, and martinis while watching in cool comfort with a bunch of Sun Devil fans. NO UofA or NAU fans allowed – just wear your ASU colors to get in.
There seems to be a new attitude this year. We are hearing good things about coach Graham and his desire to build a “football culture” at ASU. Please come out and support the team for this first game. A loss to NAU would be a HUGE disappointment for to a program looking to start off on the right foot. If you would like an early look at the team, show up at Wells Fargo Arena at approximately 5pm to be part of the first Devil Walk before the game.
Of course, light rail to the ASU football games makes a LOT of sense as the train drops you off right in front of the stadium. Avoid the traffic, let someone else do the driving to the game! The park and ride lots are FREE. For traffic restrictions on game days, see the City of Tempe ASU Fall 2012 Football Transit Services and Street Closures page.
ASU vs NAU Thursday August 30th at 7:30PM. Be there, be loud, wear GOLD and rock the Rail Life!
