The May 2012 METRO light rail ridership numbers are out and there were 1,118,598 boardings which is 148,116 less than April’s total of 1,266,714. On the plus side, May of 2011 had 1,018,684 boardings which means there was nearly a 10% increase from the year before.

The light rail ridership numbers are quite a bit lower than last month and that trend may continue as the hot weather and summer break at ASU normally mean less ridership for METRO.
