The April 2012 METRO light rail ridership numbers are out and there were 1,266,714 boardings with an impressive average weekday total of 47,400 boardings per day. The April total was about 4.8% higher than the same month ( April ) of 2011.
April 2012 ridership numbers look like this:

Avg. Weekday Boardings: 47,400 vs 43,856 in March:
Avg Saturday Boardings: 38,252 vs 33,400 in March:
Avg Sunday / Holiday Boardings: 23,661 vs 22,486 in March:
The light rail ridership numbers from April of 2011 show 1,208,710 which is 4.8% less than this months totals.
As we can see from the numbers above, METRO boardings were quite a bit higher in each of the three listed categories. The average weekday boardings is something to keep an eye on. Will we see a trend? The next few months will be interesting to watch as we typically see a drop in ridership numbers when ASU students are not such a large factor. Any bets for May? I say they squeak past the one million mark but drop off in June and July.
