The March 2012 METRO light rail ridership numbers are out and there were 1,221,772 boardings which continues the trend of easily passing the 1 million boardings per month. While January and February posted larger percentage gains over 2011, March was about 1/2 of a percentage point over the same month ( March ) of 2011.

March 2012 ridership numbers look like this:

Total Boardings for March: 1,221,772 vs 1,139,153 in February:

Avg. Weekday Boardings: 43,856 vs 44,021 in February:

Avg Saturday Boardings: 33,400 vs 34,357 in February:

Avg Sunday / Holiday Boardings: 22,486 vs 24,263 in February:

The light rail ridership numbers from March of 2011 show 1,214,276 which is .6% less than this months totals.

Overall, METRO boardings were less per day in March when compared to February but the totals are higher given the number of calendar days in the months. It will be interesting to see the totals for next month. Stay tuned!
