Cancer sucks. I’m pretty sure we all know that. I’ve had way too many friends, family members and all around great people get hit with the big C and I know you have, too. Recently, I saw my good friend Sage post about a fundraiser coming up at Cibo Pizzeria on Sunday, October 30th. The good folks at this awesome restaurant are helping out “Max” who is facing a battle with this sickening disease. Max is 4.
If you are like me and have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Max, that’s ok. In this life, we should all take every single opportunity to help others any chance we get. If there happens to be an added benefit of some awesome food and wine, consider yourself extra blessed.
I have been to Cibo several times and can tell you, for sure, that the place is *really* good. Here’s the quick scoop from their Facebook page:
“Set in a restored 1913 bungalow, Cibo (pronounced "CHEE-boh") has hardwood floors, exposed brick, a stained-glass panel and a fireplace to set the mood of revitalizing downtown Phoenix with beautiful salads, antipasto and artisanal pizzas.”
What: Halloween Wine tasting
Why: Raise Money for Max
When: Sunday October 30th 2-5PM

Head down to 5th Street and Fillmore on Sunday October 30th to have a good time for a great cause. The Cibo Halloween Wine Tasting is $25.00 ( $20.00 if you wear a costume ) and will have great food and drink along with live local bands. All proceeds are set to go to the Max Wilford Fund. I’ve also read that there is a PayPal account set up for donations. Please contact Cibo for complete details. More updates will probably be posted on their Facebook page.
As the mama of a four-year-old boy and a friend of Max’s parents, this is an event close to my heart. The folks at Cibo–and supporters of Max around the Valley–have put together a great afternoon. And you know the food is going to be amazing! Thanks, Nick, for helping get the word out. Maybe we’ll see you on the train ride over. 🙂
