Metro light rail ridership numbers – February 2011

March 23, 2011 by Rail Life Leave a Comment

While January 2011 boardings were impressive once again, the February numbers improved by a little over 6,000 with a total of 1,080,821. I have a hunch that March numbers will be even more impressive as the Spring weather always brings people out to play. Beer festivals, the Aloha Festival, Arizona CityFest, sporting events, the Tempe Festival of the Arts and more are all big reasons why we feel the March numbers will be even higher than this past month. Of course, gas prices continue to rise which will make people want to continue to save a few bucks. Stick around, we’ll be sure to pass along any information we can.

Total February ridership numbers look like this:

Total Boardings for February: 1,080,821 vs 1,074,803 in January:

Avg. Weekday Boardings: 45,074 vs 39,552 in January

Avg Saturday Boardings: 29,006 vs 30,647 in January

Avg Sunday / Holiday Boardings: 21,680 vs 20,270 in January

According to METRO, February boardings for 2011 were 4.2% higher than February 2010.

Without a doubt, recreational riders continue to love riding light rail in Arizona.
