There has been some chatter about rising gas prices for a while now. Some people are predicting $4.00 soon, some people say $5.00 per gallon is right around the corner. Are they right? I don’t know. One thing is for sure, prices are up dramatically and are once again well above three bucks a gallon.
According to a recent msnbc article:
“Gasoline prices in the United States posted their second-biggest increase ever in a two-week period, due to the rise in crude oil prices stemming from the turmoil in Libya, an industry analyst said Sunday.” – msnbc.com
Does the price of gas change the way people look at public transportation? Yeah, I think it does.
The recent light rail ridership numbers in Phoenix continue to post year over year gains. It will be interesting to see the trends over the next few months as people continue to find ways to tighten their belts.
Remember, Rail Life has a Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr. Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and allow people to add their pics (or videos), as well. These can be light rail related, but we also want pics or videos of your favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community, event etc.
Crazy!
I need to buy a Prius.
I wish my work would re-locate to somewhere I could ride the rails, it would save me a buncha money in gas.
Even if I did drive a Prius.
Dudes, I’m selling my car. I can’t handle this anymore. Buying a scooter like Greg Taylor did.
I’ll “suffer” public transportation to save a $50 gas bill every four days.
