It’s hard to beat the weather around here in March. Lots of sunny days and spectacular nights. I am often asked about family-friendly things to do along the light rail line and the obvious choices always come to mind. Catch a Suns or Diamondbacks game, head to a museum , play, or concert to enjoy the arts, take a hike / walk up Hayden Butte, head to a Farmers Market, etc. ( if you don’t already know about these places, just let us know and we will send you the scoop. )
We probably agree that kids love to ride trains. This month, there are several cool things going on along the line in Phoenix and in Tempe. The amazing Bodyworlds and the Brain Exhibition at the AZ Science Center has been a huge hit and it continues through May.
Two large events coming up are the popular Arizona Aloha Festival and the Arizona CityFest at Tempe Town Lake. Both will draw tens of thousands of people and are fun for all ages.
Arizona CityFest will be held March 19th and 20th from 1pm – 10 pm
CityFest is an action packed weekend of fun, music and food. There will be a family fun zone for the kids, BMX riders, X-Games competitions, live music from some great bands and more. See the Arizona CityFest website for complete details or check out the Rail Life CityFest page for our two cents worth of info. This will be the first time I have attended CityFest, it sounds like a lot of fun. And it’s FREE to attend!
The Arizona Aloha Festival will be held March 12th and 13th from 10am – 5pm.
The Aloha Festival is a lot of fun. My family and I have enjoyed this for the past couple of years. The festival is a great way to learn about Hawaiian and other South Pacific Islander culture and heritage. There will be music, great food, arts and crafts and more. For complete details, visit the Arizona Aloha Festival site or the Rail Life Aloha Festival page. And it’s FREE to attend!
Get out with some friends, enjoy the weather and meet some new people. Heck, you might just want to go grab a burger! 🙂 We are fortunate to have so many fun things to do around here!
Remember, kids 5 and under ride METRO for free. Ages 6-18 get discounted fares and a normal all day pass is just $3.50.
