Ceremony Officially Opens Expanded LINK service in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa

Phoenix, AZ (Jan. 10) Please join Valley Metro, along with city and town partners, in the official opening of a new LINK bus service along Arizona Avenue and Country Club Drive.
When: Wednesday, January 19, 2011 2 p.m.-3 p.m.
Where: Arizona Avenue & Chandler Boulevard (southwest corner) Parking available by entering off of Chandler Boulevard

Why: To celebrate the growth of the regional public transit system and a new connection to METRO light rail. Twenty new stations will open on January 24 featuring the expanded LINK service for residents of Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa.
How: Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the LINK expansion will be operate using Proposition 400 funds—the countywide half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2004 to fund transportation projects in Maricopa County. The city of Chandler supports the funding for weekend, late night service.
