As big as the win over Washington State was last Saturday, the looming challenge that is USC is huge… Alan Trammell, Don Baylor, Charles Nagy and Eric Young bring tons of major league experience to Kirk Gibson’s staff… I love seeing Hakim Warrick play so aggressively offensively, and his early work with Nash on the pick and roll is impressive… If you haven’t checked out www.PhoenixSuns.com lately, do so. Press game notes online is awesome… Sun Devils are ranked 4th in pre-season PAC-10 basketball poll. Last year they were ranked 7th and finished 2nd… Another sign of good things to come: All 6 of ASU’s touchdowns against WSU were by freshmen or sophomores… Gibson and Trammell played under Sparky Anderson – I like that kind of training… As much as a loss can be encouraging, the Suns home opener loss to the Lakers was just that… ASU freshmen Junior Onyeali is going to be fun to watch for the next few seasons – He is a monster… ASU has only 13 seniors on the roster, the fewest since 1985… Jarrod Parker, out for 2010 after Tommy John surgery, is pitching well, hitting the mid 90’s in a DBack instructional league game. Look for him on the 2011 roster… ASU men’s basketball opens at New Mexico in The Pit on November 16th. Great way to jump right into the fire…
