To me, the news about the dam bursting at Tempe Town Lake is a *really* interesting story. From the initial reaction to the following morning press conference to the hundreds of story lines that have and will continue to follow. Heck, so far we have had discussions about:
The enjoyment of the area:
The reaction of the city:
The finger pointing between Bridgestone and Tempe:
Alligators eating fish:
What’s that smell?
Idiot conspiracy theorists:
The economic impact of the lake and region:
And many, many more…
The story lines are indeed many, but this post is about photos. Lots of photos. In fact, people have been flocking to Tempe Town Lake to get a glimpse of the dry river bed. This week’s pic is from my friend Grant who has taken a LOT of really great shots of the lake in the past. Grant took this photo the morning after the dam burst. As you can see, there was still some water in the lake. The summer heat has taken it’s toll on the remaining water, so if you have more photos from the dry Tempe Town Lake, please feel free to add them to the new “Dam Group” on Flickr. If you are looking for some of the news stories from around Tempe Town Lake, try following my original dam post where I have added several. If you have a favorite damn dam story that I have missed, please let me know and I’ll add it. For now, it is “farewell, Tempe town lake”, but hopefully there will be water dammed up again by November!
Remember, Rail Life has a Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr. Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and allow people to add their pics (or videos), as well. These can be light rail related, but we also want pics of your favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community, event, etc.
