According to METRO, light rail delays should be expected on Saturday, May 29, 2010. A METRO Rider Alert was issued today as follows:
“This Saturday, May 29, a march will take place in central Phoenix creating large crowds and potential delays to area bus and light rail service. The march is scheduled to begin in the 10 a.m. hour and will occur for most of the mid-day. Please plan to give yourself extra time if traveling on a bus or light rail near Central Avenue or in downtown Phoenix during this time period. Your patience is appreciated as we work to provide the best service we can considering the dynamic nature of this event. If service becomes greatly impacted, information will be made available as a Rider Alert on valleymetro.org and via Customer Service at 602-253-5000.”
Love it or hate it, SB1070 is here. Another groovy little perk will be light rail delays for thousands of weekend riders heading to events downtown. Are you a Suns fan heading to the game? You might want to plan accordingly. Heading to Comicon or another event downtown? Expect delays…
Light rail service will be bogged down: Sean Holstege reported today that, “Metro will be running three-car trains every 15 minutes and will position supervisors and maintenance crews along the 20-mile track to help people work the ticket machines and to fix any potential mechanical glitches.” The AZCentral article went on to quote Metro’s Hillary Foose as saying, “We will have all-hands-on-deck and want to put out the best service we can.”
Sounds like an interesting weekend coming up.. Have fun, stay safe and keep your cool!
