Some April fools jokes are funny, some have a way of creating a lot of buzz. At Google, they definitely know how to create a buzz about their services. With their announcement that Google Fiber is coming, their PR machine has masterfully played up a HUGE awareness campaign the world over. Yesterday, Google changed their name to Topeka in yet another masterful PR move on their part. Here in Tempe, we know that it takes more than a name change to make a real difference.
I had several friends call, text, email when they saw the big Topeka banner after logging on to the big GOOG.
As a quick update, I thought I’d post a couple of the videos from the #GTempe campaign. Yes, in a way it is a shameless plug because I happen to be in two of them, but hey, it’s my dang blog and I’ll post what I want! 🙂
MAJOR props to some really cool people at ASU for this stellar entry…
My friend Michael Monti stepped up to shoot a video for #GTempe as well. Did he really say “GString?”
The City of Tempe put together this video with some really cool people in it. Big props to Tempe for running the race!
There were other videos submitted as well. If you want to learn more, you could probably just Google the term of “Google Fiber Tempe.” 🙂 You can also check YouTube for the #GTempe search term. Heck, if you want, go ahead and submit your own video. It’s never to late to add your .02.
Just, don’t be a fool and change your name…
