Ever feel like you want to do something good for your community? Yeah, well… Here’s your chance. If you really feel like helping out a portion of the light rail line, come hang out with us and spruce up the place a little bit for an hour, or two. Basically, we will be picking up trash from along side of the road and this is your special day where you can come join us in all of the fun!
Through a very cool city program called “Adopt A Street,” we get to keep an eye on a specific area of town and help with it’s maintenance and upkeep. The Adopt A Street rules aren’t too tough to follow so if you are interested in helping out, let me know.
The Adopt A Street program in Tempe is similar to the Metro light rail Adopt A Station program in that, we promise to help keep an eye on a specific area. I recently had our application for Metro’s Adopt A Station program accepted and we are excited to begin that process in the near future, as well.
Come on out and join the Rail Life crew on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00am to help clean up our “adopted” section of Tempe. It just so happens that the section we have adopted is along Apache Blvd between the McClintock and Price road stations.
We’ll be meeting at 10:45 at the McClintock and Apache station to go over some of the ground rules and to give people safety vests, trash bags, etc. Let me know if you’ll be able to make it out. We need to make sure there will be enough safety vests for the crew…
** Update:** Check out some pictures from our clean up day!
