The Phoenix art scene appears to be loving the light rail and for good reason. Many of our great museums, galleries, arts districts and venues are easily accessed via the light rail. For any very confused people that may think our music or arts scene is “Ovah”, I would certainly beg to differ. We have seen a large number of really cool arts-related events on and along the light rail line since last December’s grand opening and undoubtedly will see many more to come.
Next month, the Arizona Citizens Action for the Arts will be bringing us “Phoenix Art treasures along the Metro Light Rail.”
From their facebook page we learn some of the scoop:
“As part of a joint effort to invigorate downtown Phoenix and Green Living, AzCA has created a brand new, fun and exciting event; PHX ART Treasures on the METRO. Teams of 2 or more will compete in a scavenger/treasure hunt-style event, exploring and participating in activities surrounding arts, architecture, culture and other treasures along the Metro. Teams will decipher trivia questions, perform, find clues and make it back it time for a celebration of music, food and fun while volunteers tally points to determine the winners. Cash prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams. All participants will receive a reusable swag bag full of sponsored items, and an event t-shirt and light rail pass for the day.”
