Looks like the Diamondbacks are going green for the current July 23-29 homestand against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies. As reported in this article on 1800recycling.com, the team will turn Chase Field into a renewable energy-powered stadium by purchasing more than 1.8 million kilowatt-hours of wind energy to run the ballpark.
According to the business journal, the team announced earlier this year that it is trying to have Chase Field certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the time it hosts the All Star Game in 2011. With this attitude, it is no wonder they like people to take the light rail to the games. 🙂 From what I can tell, the team has been very supportive of light rail. Obviously, many of their fans have enjoyed the convenience of getting to and from the games as well.
Big thanks to our friends over at AZ Hardball for posting the information on Twitter yesterday! I love following their news because they always seem to have the coolest scoop on anything to do with the Dbacks.
So, I hope you can use this as a good excuse to catch a game. Have fun and enjoy the ride…
