Rail Life “Flickr Pic” of the week – Metro runs maximum capacity

May 17, 2009 by Nick Bastian Leave a Comment

This past week, Metro was tested once again on a day of very heavy use. Not only was there a baseball game but there was a graduation celebration with a pretty well know speaker who drew quite a crowd.

In the photo below, I got a shot of some students heading to Sun Devil Stadium. Metro was running three cars, full to the gills much of the day. In fact, it was estimated that 25,000 to 30,000 people took light rail to the ASU Commencement.

Overall, the system is proving to be an effective way to move large crowds of people to and from events, conventions, and our sports venues.

Remember, Rail Life has a Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr. Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and allow people to add their pics (or videos), as well. These can be light rail related, but we also want pics of your favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community, event etc.
