Jam packed weekend of events

May 1, 2009 by Nick Bastian 2 Comments

I hope you are ready for a jam packed weekend of fun things to do! Here is a partial run-down of things to do along the light rail line over the next few days.

You can start the evening with Kimber and crew as they ride “The Train Tracks” at approximately 5:00 from Central and Camelback. It was cool to see them get some love from the AZ Republic this morning… Fun stuff, for sure.

After the train tracks, hundreds of your friends will be at First Fridays Art Walk which is accessible from the Central and Roosevelt light rail station. This monthly event just keeps getting better. Don’t miss the Coe House hosting a preview of the collaboration between artist Rocco Menaguale and VMarie fashion designer Rickie Gonzales from 7 to 10pm.

Also at First Fridays this weekend, you will find the crazy folks from Improv Arizona doing the “First Friday Freeze” as another encore to some of their past valley pranks.

If you want to have a TON of fun in Tempe, don’t miss East Valley Friday Night’s at Lunchbox Collective. We will be hanging out with a bunch of friends near the 5th and College light rail station from 6-8pm. Look south of the station for the Rail Life banner to join in on the fun. Oh yeah, don’t forget the “warm up” happy hour at Regions Bistro on Mill. Did someone say “complimentary” appetizer samples at Regions? 🙂 See ya there…

Saturday morning brings us some fun events in downtown Phoenix. The ever present and very cool Phoenix Public Market is from 8am to noon. If you haven’t been, you really are missing out!

Saturday also brings us Jane’s Walk Phoenix. Jane’s walk is a great way to see the core of downtown, including the Roosevelt neighborhood, Roosevelt Row and the Arts District, ASU’s Downtown Phoenix Campus, the new Civic Space and other key areas. A bunch of great people will be participating in this fun event spear-headed by Yuri Artibise.

A Taste of Greece is at Tempe Beach Park today through Sunday. The event features music and dance performances, beer, wine, pastries, imports and carnival rides for the kids. You know we love Tempe Beach Park, this one sounds kind of fun!

Need some other great things to do this weekend? How about finding a fun restaurant near the light rail line or your favorite coffee shop? Maybe you should take a hike! One suggestion I have is this: Save some energy for Tuesday! Cinco De Mayo is coming and we want to see you at Macayo’s Depot Cantina to celebrate with a whole bunch of Rail Life friends!

Hey AZ… “Your Life Is On The Line!”
