RPMS light rail pub crawl – round two

April 6, 2009 by Nick Bastian Leave a Comment

RPM’S LIGHT RAIL PUB CRAWL is at it again! “Same shirt, a second serving of fun” say the guys at Responsible Partying Made Simple. At the request of the patrons, on Saturday, 11 April 2009 from 4 – 11 pm, RPM’S is bringing back the Light Rail Pub Crawl! Metro-Phoenix residents will experience a variety of nightlife flavors. Stretching from Phoenix’s Camelback/Central light rail station to Tempe’s Apache/McClintock station, they will enjoy local nightlife diversity ranging from the stylish, laid back, Switch Restaurant & Wine Bar to the “Cheers-like” atmosphere of the ROC Bar.

“The event was such a huge success in February,” said organizer of the event, Merlin U Ward, “everyone wanted to do it again! Bar owners and patrons alike. It’s a great give-back to the phoenix businesses and really shows the number of patrons who would like to see the light rail run later.”

Around the metropolitan area, several locations will offer extended happy hours and exclusive drink specials during the event to patrons wearing the official RPM’S pub crawl T-shirt (“their ticket”). Anyone who has a shirt from the last event is invited out to participate again. There is no fixed schedule; all patrons are able to customize which locations they want to visit based on their own likes and tastes. Some of the confirmed locations and list of nearest stations are:

  • ROC Bar  McClintock / Apache
  • Four Peaks Brewery  Apache / Dorsey
  • College Dropouts  Veterans Way / College Ave
  • Big Bang 3rd / Mill
  • Draw Ten Bar & Grill  Priest / Washington
  • Silver Lounge 3rd / Washington
  • Majerle’s Sports Grill 3rd / Washington
  • Switch Restaurant and Wine Bar Thomas / Central
  • George and Dragon Pub Indian School / Central
  • Doc’s Place Camelback / Central

For Park and Ride locations or for a map of the light rail route, we are here to help. Also, be sure to purchase your light rail ticket before boarding. For just $2.50, you will have unlimited use for the day.

In addition, events and contests will be taking place during the crawl. Switch will be hold a wine tasting from 4-6 pm, as well as live filming of RPMStv and giveaways of a 1 year Membership for RPMS service at a variety of locations (patrons can sign up for contests at shirt purchasing

locations and must be present to win).

T-shirts can be purchased for $10 at two locations on the day of the event: Doc’s Place (Phoenix), and the ROC bar (Tempe). T-shirts may also be preordered online at www.RPMSLightRailPubCrawl.com. A portion of the proceeds go to the St. Mary’s Food Bank. Each person who purchases a shirt will help feed 7 people!
