Take a hike, a walk, a stroll or what ever you want to call it but the very first Rail Life hike at Hayden Butte ( “A” Mountain ) in Tempe was a LOT of fun. Many of our good friends came out to enjoy a really nice Saturday morning get together with the common goal of fun, fresh air and friends. It was the first time up the mountain for several people and our friends at Take A Hike Arizona proved to be a great asset to the morning. We learned some really cool history, talked about the surroundings and even learned of some of the ancient Petroglyphs located on the mountain. It is interesting how many people that have lived in Arizona for a long time have never taken advantage of checking out this community asset, the views from the top of the mountain are absolutely beautiful.
The access from the light rail stations at 3rd and Mill and from 5th and College couldn’t be much more convenient for people to take advantage of the mountain. The trip is great for individuals and families alike to get out and about with the added convenience of the great restaurants and shopping on Mill Avenue.
Our first trip was great but since a lot of our friends couldn’t make it, we have a really good excuse to do it again in the future. Hopefully, you can join us as well!
You can also see more pictures of our day from our friends at Take A Hike Az. <– check em’ out!
Rail Life has a Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr. Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and allow people to add their pics (or videos), as well. These can be light rail related, but we also want pics of your favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community, event etc.
