Light rail is becoming a very popular way to enjoy a LOT of fun stuff! This coming weekend is no exception as it is jam-packed with all kinds of great activities. The Arizona Aloha Festival at Tempe Beach Park will be held March 14th and 15th from 10am – 5pm and is one of those activities you won’t want to miss. According to their web site, it looks like this FREE event will feature great food, a lot of great entertainment, shopping and fun!
I recently spoke with planning committee chairperson Lacretia Bacon to discuss the event. Lacretia mentioned the sland lifestyle with it’s hula dancers, Tahitian drums and wonderful culture. “Anyone that has ever been to Hawaii and forgot a souvenir, can get it here” said Bacon. The family friendly event is in it’s 15th year but is coming to Tempe Beach Park for the first time. This location should work out great for this type of event. Location, map and parking information can be found on their web site. If taking light rail, exit the station at 3rd street and Mill and walk a block north to the parks entrance.
Remember, March 14th and 15th from 10am – 5 pm for a FREE fun event. I’ll be there with my family Sunday afternoon. My kids are still pretty small and we haven’t yet taken them to Hawaii so, we will take a train ride and go experience something new. 🙂 Look for the guy with the Rail Life hat and come say hello!
So glad to see you highlight this festival. It’s one of the big best kept secrets in the valley, despite having HUGE numbers of attendees. Moving to the Lake was a smart move for them.
Thanks Sean… I went out there today and it was a lot of fun. One of the organizers told me Tempe Police estimated 100,000 people came out on Saturday! Very successful weekend for the festival.
