You might be saying, "what the heck does Light Rail, Art and EVFN have in common?" Actually, you might be saying, "What the heck is EVFN?" Well, it stands for East Valley Friday Nights and is one of the many smart ideas that Evo Terra has come up with in his (in)famous career. Each Friday night, a bunch of geeks people get together for a little pre-weekend "Tweet-Up" fun (mainly technology related geeks people) at a different east valley restaurant, bar or even grocery store. (Whole Food’s in Chandler is a great place for EVFN! Really)
I am excited to tell you that we will be meeting at Studios 5C this Friday which is located near the light rail station at 5th St and College near Sun Devil Stadium. The cool folks at Lunchbox Collective have been kind enough to invite us to an art showing of the beautiful works of Emily Detrick. I toured the facility and viewed some of the work yesterday and am confident this is a light rail event you won’t want to miss! Much of Emily’s work is inspired by "humans as the bridge between animal and machine." You really need to come see what that means.
If taking Light Rail, exit the ASU station at 5th and College and look south / east for the RailLife banner on the patio. The patio is BEAUTIFUL! Views of Sun Devil Stadium, A Mountain, the Flour Mill etc. You will love it. Some pics can be found here from my visit to the Studio yesterday.
Please be sure to RSVP on the EVFN "Upcoming" page for this event!
From the EVFN Upcoming page, I took the following info to share:
This week, we’re stepping a bit out of our normal zone. Lunchbox Collective has offered to sponsor the event his week. That’s right kids: SPONSORED! Yeah, I know. Cool, huh? Huge props to Richard Stuart for offering up the venue, plus providing providing beer & wine along with hors d’oeuvres.
Sheila Dee and I recently toured Studios 5C Gallery and were quite impressed. The place looks great. The featured artist is Emily Detrick, and the collection of art on display there is titled "SELECTION drawings by emily detrick". Hey look! Some culture at an #evfn.
Studios 5C Gallery is located on the top floor of the building on the southwest corner of 5th & College. You can park underneath, in the outside lot on the SE corner, or take the Light Rail! The Sun Devil Stadium stop is literally across the street!
Rumor has it that the famous Dianne Wallace from the ASU Art Museum will also be joining us. I hope some of our other friends from the arts community and from the Heard Museum can join as well.
We are fortunate that so many fun events are happening along the light rail line. I’ll try to keep up to date and let you know whats next…

Really looking forward to tonigh, even though we’ll be making a brief appearance as we have a concert to attend!
