The first ever Phoenix Suns Tweet Up was this past week and it was a huge success. The Suns have a brilliant marketing team that has embraced social networking better than any other NBA team. In fact, this "tweet up" was the first in NBA history. Many people in the Suns organization use Twitter in many different ways.
For people unfamiliar with Twitter, it can come off as a "ridiculous" waste of time. For those that understand it, it can be a very effective way to communicate. Twitter started out as a way to answer the question of "what are you doing?" The number of uses for these sometimes crazy, 140 character messages has grown into a way for people to share all kinds of information. A few examples of people on Twitter are: Mainstream media, moms groups, sports teams, real estate agents, church groups, police departments, city agencies, educational institutions and just about any other group or individual out there.
Last I heard, there were approximately 125 people that joined in the fun. I had planned on writing more about the evening but, I am tired and want to go to bed. You can see some of the pictures I took of the "tweet up" to get a better idea of what went on. Two of the people we need to thank for the night are the PhoenixSunsGirl and the_real_shaq (also known as Shaquille O'Neal) Yes, the big guy is on Twitter and yes, we got to meet him after the game. If you were not there, I am sorry. Maybe you should join Twitter and follow us so that you know what all of the fun people are up to. 🙂
Remember… Rail Life has a "Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr." Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and allow people to add their pics (or videos), as well. These can be light rail related, but we also want pics of your favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community, etc.
That sucks I missed it! I would have definitely rearranged my plans if I would have known it was going to be such a big event.
It was *really* fun. They promise to do more and we will be sure to let people know! Sorry you didn’t make the first one, hope you can make the next!
