The first annual RailLife.com Turkey Drive was a great success this morning. With the help of some good friends, we were able to raise money so that we could purchase turkeys to deliver to the Phoenix Rescue Mission where they will be used to feed needy families this week for their holiday feast. I can’t tell you how enjoyable this kind of stuff is. I have personally been doing this drive for several years and am excited to see what the future holds as Rail Life grows. This years haul of approximately 875 pounds of turkey fell slightly below my goal of 1000 pounds but was very enjoyable. Next year, I have a feeling we can do a much better job! 🙂
Please remember to help those in need and to shop local this holiday season. Obviously, we want you to support the businesses along the light rail line. I have a feeling they are most thankful knowing construction has completed and that the line will be opening in December! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from your Rail Life crew!
Special thanks go out to all of the people that donated. Rob Sell was once again a HUGE help, Hoey and Saks Insurance came up big, Calie, Eric, Russ and a bunch of our good friends allowed us to do this. Thanks!
Remember… Rail Life has a “Phoenix Light Rail Group on Flickr.” Basically, we want to share some of our pictures from the community and to allow people to add their pics (or videos) as well. These can be light rail related but we also want a favorite spot, restaurant, sports team, community etc
Well, Rail Life – you did it again! It’s always amazing to see a great idea brought to fruition…especially when it helps so many in need. Thank you for allowing me to play a small role in your endeavor. Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving from our family to everyone at Rail Life!
Calie, thanks so much! We really do appreciate your support; financially and by being gracious with your time in helping us spread the word. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!
Glad to see you had success. See you next week at the REBN meeting. I am looking forward to hearing from Emily. Talk to you soon.
