In Tempe, there is still time to voice your opinion on the proposed changes to the bus lines due to the implementation of light rail. Comments are being reviewed through August 19th and will be presented to the Tempe Transportation Commission on Sept. 9 and the Tempe City Council Sept. 11.
Your comments can be submitted on line and a list of the current and proposed bus routes can be reviewed on the City of Tempe web site.
Many of these routes will connect with the new Tempe Transportation Center which is a three-story, 40,000 square foot building next to the new light rail stop at Fifth Street and College. The transportation Center will also be home to a new Tempe bike station. According to the City's web site, the bike station will provide: long and short term bicycle parking, bicycle repair, supplies, refreshments, staff assistance, bus and rail commute information, showers/restrooms and more.
Most of the proposed changes to the bus lines appear to be minor. Easier access to light rail and to the Transportation Center look to be the key element in deciding the changes. I'll be attending a Transportation Committee meeting this week and will try to get some more information on how people will be able to utilize all of the systems. Once the new changes are finalized, we will be sure to add a link from RailLife.com. For the current list of bus routes, click here.
