Monday, I am “heading out to San Francisco” (reminds me of a great Jimmy Buffet song!) to join a bunch of bloggers, mainly from the RE.net community.
Inman’s Real Estate Connect is July 23rd – 25th and is preceded by RE Bar Camp on the 22nd. Day one of Inman Connect has a nearly six hour workshop titled “Blogger’s Connect.” There, I will meet up with some really great people, many are new friends, some are people that I am looking forward to meeting for the first time. Mainly, I am going on this trip to learn more about how to take our blog to new audiences and to reach more people. Once RailLife.com is ready to launch, (coming soon) we really want to be able to bring good quality information to you concerning ALL aspects of these changing areas along the Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa light rail line. One of the panelists is Jeff Turner from Real Estate Shows, Jeff was recently in Tempe and did this impromptu interview with me while we had lunch. (just a quick overview of RailLife.com) I am looking forward to meeting with him again in CA. The guy is a social media maniac! 🙂
RE Bar Camp runs from 10am to 6pm the day before Inman Connect and will be kind of a “free for all” of ideas. Basically, you put a bunch of brainy geeks in a room, start throwing ideas and topics around and break out into groups to talk about whatever floats your boat. There will be live feeds coming from twitter, flickr, blog sites and more social media apps than you can shake a stick at. Make sure to tune into the Bar Camp feed or to the SF Connectism site if you would like to get the scoop. This will allow you to follow along with live updates and random thoughts.
Of course, it isn’t going to be all work and no play… Several gatherings and parties are planned for the week. Tuesday evening, we will “have” to attend the “Beer With Bloggers” sponsored by my new buddy David Gibbons and Zillow followed the next night by our friend Rudy Bachraty and Trulia throwing the “Day After House Party.” I was fortunate to meet both of these guys a few months ago in Phoenix and they are a lot of fun. Wednesday night, after the “house party,” I am off to meet with my friend Brad Andersohn and his crew throwing a party in the Bolero Penthouse suite in Union Square. There, I hope to get more information on how to bring our readers more information about the communities that will surround the upcoming light rail stops. We will be adding some really cool new tools to the blog and to the main site very soon and we think it will be a great resource for the communities. Our goal is to be a complete resource for these communities featuring detailed information on housing, restaurants, shopping, hotels, sporting activities, entertainment, light rail schedules and maps etc. etc.! All wrapped up in a fun, interactive site for you to enjoy… I have begun sharing some of the pages from the new site with a few “focus groups” to try and get feedback on what we are doing. So far, so good. We really hope you will come back often and watch for the new features! 🙂
Nick,
I am SO envious! Wish I could be there to re-connect with our friends from Unchained. Have a great time, and bring back some tips to share with your readers!
