Wow.. This past week was action packed for Metro and for people wanting more information about the new light rail cars. Yesterday, the trains made their first trip up Central Avenue. We were lucky to have Joy get some video of this historic trip. I think the video does a great job in giving you a feel for some of the excitement in Phoenix. Joy has been tremendous help and support at Rail Life since the begining.. Thanks Joy!
On the 4th of July, thousands of people that were near the 3rd St / Mill Avenue stop in Tempe got to see the cars up close! While parked at the station, Metro employees provided information to many curious passers by. I was glad to see the excitement building for the December launch. I was also impressed with how well the a/c system worked on the train, even after being parked for several hours. This video was shot as I walked up to the train from Mill Avenue. I wanted to show a quick glimpse of the people actually boarding and leaving the trains. Notice how easy they are to access etc.. Once inside, I got to see a man ask a few questions of the employees who were all very helpful. Towards the end of the video, Metro's Hillary Foose talks about security, safety and fare enforcement. As always, she does a great job explaining the system.
Also, don't forget to join Metro for a party on Saturday (the 12th) at the southeastern corner of 19th Avenue and Camelback from 10 am to 1 pm. (the party will be in the park-and-ride lot)
