The Tempe Tavern is a very cool little beer joint directly across from the light rail station at McClintock and Apache.
A good description was posted on the Tempe Tavern Facebook page:
“Tempe Tavern is a clean and comfortable neighborhood tavern with a rustic feel. As anyone is welcome to come enjoy a cool drink or some good food here, we don’t "cater" to any particular persons or demographic. College students, business professionals, soldiers, music lovers, fashion enthusiasts, sports fans, retirees.. you name it..”
The Tempe Tavern has the feel of an old neighborhood bar with rustic decor inside and out that pays homage to the history of their site which has previously been home to the New Oxbow Tavern and Murphy’s Irish Pub.
The menu consists of burgers, chicken sandwiches, specialty dishes and a variety of appetizers and finger foods. The Tempe Tavern serves liquor, beer (bottle & tap), wines, and a variety of coffee’s and tea and features live music throughout the week.

If you like history, you will think it’s cool to know that the Tempe Tavern is located in the historic White Dairy Barn property built by E.M. White in 1918. The building is the only known river cobble building remaining in Tempe. Check it out!
