I remember hearing about the new Farmers Market coming to the Mill Avenue District and hearing that a bunch of really cool people were involved with making it happen. Fast forward to March of 2014 and all of the planning and hard work has paid off with a really cool Community Market north of Tempe Town Lake and just east of the light rail station at Washington and Center Parkway. Very close to the Marquee Theatre.
The Tempe Community Market is located at the north end of the Mill Avenue Bridge, under the Loop 202 Bridge on the north side of Tempe Town Lake. The map below shows the closest light rail station to the market. There is also free parking at the Marquee for anyone driving to the market.
“The market has more than 40 vendors who focus on Arizona grown produce, honey, local foods, baked goods, pickles, preserves, artisan crafts and more. The market also will offer a Community Exchange, welcoming produce from those with backyard, community, or market gardens and surplus produce. The open-air market’s easily accessible location is under the 202 bridge just south of the Marquee Theatre. The bridge provides both shade and breeze, making it the perfect destination for a summer morning.” – Tempe Community Action Agency
