Squash Blossom: Kind of a funny name for such a seriously cool place. If you follow all of the awesome stuff happening in downtown Phoenix, you’ll most certainly coma across some of the many great things happening at Squash Blossom. Of course, there is the amazing breakfast, awesome lunch and many great ways to wet your whistle but… They really care about the neighborhood, they involve themselves with the community and they listen to what their customers want. Squash Blossom looks to work with local vendors to find fresh ingredients for their customers. Check out this quote from their web site:
“Beginning with breakfast and lunch in summer 2012, we hope to eventually move to a full-service restaurant within the next year. We want to offer a new venue for artists to perform, showcase and sell their masterpieces; a tether for community and charity groups to organize and be active in this area; a retreat that encourages the growth of a green, vibrant and walkable downtown; and a comfortable lounge area for bicyclists, businessmen and women, students, artists, musicians, First Friday goers, dog owners and their pets, tourists, etc.”
Reasonably priced and delicious is always a great combination. A Squash Blossom Breakfast offers choices from awesome pancakes and French Toast (try the Banana Pecan Carmel French Toast, it’s amazing!) to biscuits and gravy, traditional egg dishes and a $6 garden scramble that is hard to beat.
For lunch, the choices run from many salads to sandwiches, burgers, the Squash Blossom Wrap, Chicken Salad Croissant, Turkey BLT and more. There is something for just about anyone.
Yoga at Squash Blossom! Yep, they have Yoga Monday – Wednesday evenings from 4-5pm and from 5:30-6:30pm for a suggested $10 minimum donation.
For just $10.00, the Squash Blossom Brunch is one of the best deals around. From 8:30am – 1:30pm on Sunday they have an omelette station, pastry bar, salads, cheeses, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits, fresh veggies, juices, coffee, tea and more. Yes, really.
Another awesome Squash Blossom feature is the art, it gives you another reason to come enjoy this local gem.
