The 7th annual No Pants AZ Light Rail Ride will be happening on January 10th 2016 at 1:00pm. The local jokers at Improv AZ have confirmed the date and will be participating in this national day of pantslessness the Improv Everywhere No Pants Subway riders.
Per Improv AZ: REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION –
Remember, the rules are very simple:
- NO WALLFLOWERS! Everyone who shows up must take off their pants. (This includes the media.)
- You must have your googly bits covered at all times. We don’t want anyone to get a ticket for indecent exposure.
- Follow the rules of the light rail.
** THIS IS A PARTICIPATORY EVENT. DO NOT SHOW UP UNLESS YOU PLAN TO TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF. THIS INCLUDES THE MEDIA! **”
At first, a No Pants Light Rail Ride might sound a bit odd, or even obscene, but don’t let that stop you from meeting up with a bunch of strangers and dropping your trousers on the light rail. It’s all in fun. Really.
If you are attending the 2016 No Pants AZ Light Rail Ride, you should just “act normal.”
For the no pants AZ light rail ride, all you have to do is “Act normal – Stay with your group. Sit in the car like you normally would. If questioned, tell folks that you “forgot to wear pants” and yes you are “a little cold.” Insist that it is a coincidence that others also forgot their pants. Be nice and friendly and normal.
Like any other ride, you can read a magazine or a news paper, listen to your iPod, get some work done on your smart phone, etc. The emphasis is on casual. Just ( as best you can) act “normal.” The last thing anyone wants is for people to do anything stupid. Improv Everywhere tells us: “Don’t disrupt the Light Rail – While the Phoenix Police Department said that wearing your underwear in public isn’t illegal, don’t do anything dumb. All responsibility for your actions during this event are entirely your own.”
When: Sunday, January 10th, 2016
Bring: A backpack and purchase a light rail pass
Wear: underwear

Rather than have everyone start at just two locations, you can start at any Park & Ride location you wish! Just go to one of the Light Rail park and ride lots and board the first train that arrives after 1:30pm if coming from west of downtown Phoenix or board any train coming from east of downtown Phoenix after 1:15pm. We’re all headed to the same place, so don’t worry if you get on a different train than other people.
Make sure you arrive in time to get a Light Rail pass from one of the machines at the stations!
If this is your first year doing it and you want to be at a station with someone from ImprovAZ, go to the 19th Ave & Montebello or Price/101 & Apache locations, but really you can start anywhere!
Last year, they ended at Roosevelt and Central and then headed over to Angel’s Trumpet Ale House.
Be on time! Be at any light rail station West Side or East Side starting point station and ready to board the train by 1:00pm. Be early if you need to, especially if you need to buy a light rail pass.
Watch for Team Leaders: The Team Leaders may try to split people into small groups to board different trains, depending how many people show up.
If you are not a regular light rail rider, you should be aware of a few things:
Purchase a light rail pass for just $4.00. Also, the park and ride lots are FREE of charge. Each end of the line stations that are starting points for the 2014 No Pants Light Rail Ride have large park and ride lots. See the light rail map below for station locations:

Believe it or not, this national day of pantless hilarity happens all over the world.
Below is a video of the fearless No Pants AZ leader, Jeff Moriarty, telling people about the event. While I stole borrowed most of the information from the “official No Pants AZ site,” I thought it would be cool to have you hear it from him, as well.
Thanks to SheilaDee for this No Pants AZ video from the 2009 event!
