More Action Coming East Of Mill Avenue

September 23, 2014 by Nick Bastian Leave a Comment

Mill Avenue is well known for its abundance of food, drink and entertainment. In the past, we’ve talked about what it might take for Tempe to stretch the Mill Avenue District out a little bit. While many plans have been in the works for years, we are seeing signs of some pretty significant changes in the area east of Mill to College and from 5th Street south to University. We’ve seen investment in this area from ASU and from public and private business. The new ASU student Welcome Center is housed in the fancy new 30,000 square foot ASU-owned building on College between 6th and 7th, where they also have an awesome technology center, a huge clothing store, office space and more.

Some of the new and soon-to-come spots are the Chop Shop, Postino at the Annex , Royal Coffee, Snooze, Revo Pizzabar, Orange Table Tempe, and the new ASU wine bar called Pitchforks & Corks. These places join some long time favorites in the Chuckbox, House of Tricks, Mad Hatter Brew Pub and a bunch of other fast-casual places that have been around a while.

If you haven’t been to this area recently, you should check some of this stuff out. From the photos above, Royal Coffee is already open at 5th and College next to Mad Hatter, Revo opens soon, Postino opens in October and Orange Table opens this Thursday which is game day for the Devils who are taking on UCLA.

With the Tempe Transit Center located at 5th and Farmer, these places are all easily accessible by our light rail system, the Orbit lines or the city bus system. As large new developments continue to come to the ever expanding Mill Avenue District, we’ll be sure to see new dining and entertainment options. Stick around, it’s gonna be a wild ride…

Of course, if you live outside of the city now, feel free to call your favorite REALTOR in Tempe. He’ll be happy to help you out and get you closer to the action…
