Ignite Phoenix – Get There, The Easy Way

by Rail Life on June 11, 2010

OK, so i meant to post this a lloooong time ago. Hopefully, a quick post will still be useful to some.

Ignite Phoenix is always a lot of fun. Tonight, hundreds of people will descend upon the Phoenix Art museum for a great time..

The event starts at 6pm: Here is the scoop straight from the horses mouth.

  • Time and Date: Friday, June 11. Doors open at 3:30pm! Throughout the evening, ticket holders are invited to enjoy various areas of the museum’s South Wing, including the Katz Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art, Ellman Fashion Gallery,  Norton Gallery of Photography and the Modern and Contemporary Art displays.
  • Venue: Cummings Great Hall, Phoenix Art Museum (1625 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85004). Detailed directions below.

Don’t forget to check it out. Or In.

The Phoenix Art Museum is right off of the light rail station at Central and McDowell: Easy as pie: Use a Park and Ride lot and take the light rail because it is quick, cheap and easy. Who attending Ignite Phoenix doesn’t like quick, cheap and easy? Just purchase a light rail pass and you are good to go!

Light Rail Travel Times: Hint, don’t be late. If coming from the end of the line at 19th Avenue and Montebello, travel will be “approximately” 25 minutes. If coming from Tempe or the Mill Avenue District, plan on travel times of “approximately” 35 minutes.

If you were in New York, would you say take “the heavy rail” ? No, it’s the subway. Here in Phoenix, we have streetcars; oh sure you can jazz it up by saying they are LRVs (light rail vehicles) but San Diego calls theirs trolleys, and Boston calls their streetcars.

Besides, our LRT (light rail transit) system has a name: Metro. Let’s use it, even if Metro itself can’t figure out how to.

So let’s say: Take Metro to Ignite!
