Metro light rail ridership numbers – December 09’

by Rail Life on January 15, 2010

Metro ended the year with respectable light rail ridership numbers for December of 2009. While the monthly totals did not reach the million plus boardings of the previous three months, it sounds like they were happy with the way this first year turned out. Decembers average Sunday/Holiday numbers were the lowest of the year. It will be very interesting to see what happens next year as the system finally loses the curiosity factor.

The December totals were as follows:

Total Boardings: 951,894

Average Weekday Ridership: 35,536

Average Saturday Ridership: 24,665

Average Sunday/Holiday Ridership: 14,289

Light Rail Ridership statistics for all of 2009 were as follows.

Weekday:

Projected: 26,000

Actual Ridership: 34,809

Above Projection: 33.9%

Saturday:

Projected: 20,800

Actual Ridership: 27,662

Above Projection: 33.0%

Sunday/Holiday:
