2009 Tempe Block Party and Insight Bowl to rock the Rail Life

by Rail Life on December 26, 2009

The annual Tempe Block Party and the 2009 Insight Fiesta Bowl are the next BIG things to hit Mill Avenue and will help 2009 go out with a bang.

The 25th Annual Fiesta Bowl Block Party will start just a short time after the beginning of the Insight Bowl. New Year’s Eve begins on Mill at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 until 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1. Out of town guests from Minnesota and Iowa are encouraged to act like smart locals and use a Metro park and ride lot if driving to the Insight Bowl or to the Fiesta Bowl Block Party. There is a light rail station at Mill Avenue and Third street for the block party and a station at Sun Devil Stadium ( Veterans Way / College Ave ) for football fans.

Tickets for the Fiesta Bowl Block party are $20.00 or can be purchased for $15.00 until Dec. 30 at a local Fry’s grocery store. **Buy three discounted tickets and get the fourth one free** ( see Fry’s or the block party web site for tickets and details) If you consider yourself a VIP and want special treatment along with “complimentary refreshments,” check out the $100.00 VIP tickets by calling the Fiesta Bowl Ticket Office: 480-350-0911.

Last year’s New Year’s Eve block party in Tempe and the 2008 Insight Bowl were both a success. As one of the first big tests for our light rail system which just turns one tomorrow, the events proved to be a great way for people to get to and from events at Mill Avenue and Sun Devil Stadium.

We like to layer our clothes on cool nights. Will we be permitted to carry a backpack in which to store our coats?
Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike,
I am not aware of restrictions of backpacks. I think you should be fine. ( I carry one on the trains often)
Thanks for stopping by!
